PSEMA and EMEAA Announce Partnership and Collaboration

9/29/2025 1:00 pm

On September 17, 2025, the Private Sector Emergency Management Association (PSEMA) and the Emergency Management External Affairs Association (EMEAA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to formalize a partnership rooted in strengthening communication, collaboration, and coordination across the broader emergency management community.

This partnership reflects a shared commitment to ensuring the whole community is informed and engaged before, during, and after disasters. Together, PSEMA and EMEAA will leverage their unique memberships, expertise, and resources to better support emergency managers, crisis communicators, and private-sector leaders in advancing resilience and preparedness.

“Collaboration is the cornerstone of effective emergency management,” said PSEMA President Julie Kay Roberts. “By partnering with EMEAA, we are creating new pathways for trusted information-sharing and ensuring that public- and private-sector voices work hand in hand to protect communities.”

PSEMA and EMEAA recognize that their organizations bring complementary strengths. PSEMA offers a network of private-sector partners and programs, including the newly launched Signal & Shield Camp Initiative, a national campaign providing NOAA Weather Radios and preparedness resources to youth camps. EMEAA brings unmatched expertise in external affairs and crisis communications to support storytelling, outreach, and survivor-focused engagement.

“At EMEAA, we believe strong communication builds trust and saves lives,” said EMEAA President Bob Jensen. “This partnership allows us to combine our strengths with PSEMA’s innovative programs, amplifying the impact for both our members and the communities we serve.”

Moving forward, PSEMA and EMEAA will collaborate on information-sharing, joint initiatives, and opportunities to engage members through events, campaigns, and shared resources that strengthen resilience and expand access to practical tools.
